Tips for Morning Meeting

Fifth grade teacher, Maddie Long, spends the 5-10 minutes after WPIN conducting her morning meeting each and every morning.  Maddie finds inspirational videos to share with her students that range from 2-5 minutes in length.  One video that Maddie said really captivated her students was one about Alabama kicker Adam Griffith and the obstacles he has had to overcome in his life.  She has also shown some of the Kid President videos and other short videos that she has found.  Maddie will show a video one day and spend the next day facilitating a discussion about the video.  When I stopped by her room this morning, they were discussing a video they had viewed yesterday and relating it back to our character word of respect.  Maddie said that implementing these short Morning Meetings in her classroom has really made a difference in the culture!  Below you will see a picture of today's Morning Meeting and a picture of her Morning Meeting lesson plans for this week.  Notice how she scripted some questions to use during her discussions.
