CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
What an amazing book
drive you organized! The 15 schools involved in the 2015 Birmingham Reads Book
Drive Challenge collected more than 41,000 books for under-privileged
children in our area! That’s right – 41 THOUSAND!!!! These books
will go home with the kids who need them most and will be treasured for years
to come.
We are all astounded
by the success. Many thanks to each and every one of you for the hard work and
enthusiasm you put into this event. We had so much fun meeting you as we
unloaded the cars and vans and SUVs full of beautiful books. You should all be
proud. Please accept the deepest gratitude from Better Basics and the Junior
League of Birmingham.
This
year, Paine Elementary won the Birmingham Reads Book Drive Challenge
by collecting more than 6,000 books! Vestavia Hills Elementary School-Cahaba
Heights won the challenge to collect the most books per pupil, with more than
6.3 books collected per student! Congratulations to these winners and to
each of you. You are all winners because your efforts will make a big
difference for children, who without the books collected by your schools,
would not have these wonderful books!
I hope you will join
us next year as the Birmingham Reads project enters its seventh year serving
the community.
Thank you again for
all of your support. You were fabulous!
